Capote & Brokeback

Last night we saw the movie Capote. If you already know a lot about Truman Capote and don't mind me potentially spoiling the movie for ya, keep reading! I knew nothing about Capote going into this cinema and I walked out absolutely loving the movie. Philipp Seymore Hoffman gave a brilliant performance. The movie is based around him writing the book "In Cold Blood". I knew nothing about this book so throughout the movie kept wondering what really happened with the murders. It was astounding to watch Capote visit Perry on death row, watch him manipulate Perry for years trying to get the confession of what really happened in that house. Capote literally lied to this man over and over again, patiently building a friendship and earning this mans trust. At the same time you could see him building this painful bond with this man, who eventually was going to die. Capote couldn't publish his book until Perry was executed. It was kind of ironic that he spent years waiting for Perry to confess, and when he did there were more stay of executions which delayed the execution, which delayed the release of his book! What a position to be in, wanting a man to die to finish your life's most amazing accomplishment, and seeing a friend die. Were Perry and Capote truly friends though?

Brokeback Mountain was a great and truly sad heart wrenching love story. It was fab. Excellent eye candy. I felt horrible for the wives, what a sad situation for everyone.
